Deputy Lieutenant Craig Dunbar had the enormous pleasure and privilege earlier today to celebrate the 60th Wedding Anniversary of Sauchie couple Murdoch and Janice McGregor and of being joined by Provost Donald Balsillie to do so. Craig was delighted to present the official greeting from the King & Queen and to deliver a bouquet of spring coloured flowers to mark this very important and happy occasion and the Provost handed over a congratulatory card on behalf of the people of the Wee County.
The happy couple, who have three daughters and six grand children on whom they dote, were married in St Mungo's Parish Church. They have each had a number of occupations during their long and happy marriage. Janice was a Secretary in the days before computers, when accurate typing was essential and Murdoch has been a lorry driver and a coal miner before they worked together in their own shop, Kitchen Colour, in Mill Street in Alloa before they retired.
Murdoch has always been keen on all sorts of physical activity, on the football field, athletics track and on the open water either fishing or achieving the outstanding feat of being the oldest person to circumnavigate Britain and raising thousands for charity in the process. Janice is an enthusiastic member of the Sauchie Community Choir and both have very full diaries with community and other social events.
The couple are going to be joined this coming weekend by their extended family for a celebration. The Lieutenancy wishes them both well today for the weekend and for the years ahead.
