On a beautiful sunny afternoon today, Lord-Lieutenant Johnny Stewart attended at the home in Alloa of Kit Gow to present to her the British Empire Medal awarded to her by His Majesty the King in the New Year Honours List.
Known throughout the Burgh and County, Kit and her team have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charitable causes over many years and it was a pleasure to see so many of them in attendance today to see her receive this very deserved award. Her drive and enthusiasm and ability to persuade friends and family to assist in these worthwhile causes is second to none.
She is the first person in the County to be awarded a BEM bearing the Royal Monogram of His Majesty and was at pains to point out that it was as much for her team as it was for her as an individual. The party was treated to a lovely afternoon tea including stunning meringues and freshly baked scones and shortbread.
