On a gloriously sunny and warm afternoon yesterday, HRH the Duke of Kent attended the Wimpy Park Community Group in Alloa to present formally the Crystal and Certificate signed by HM the King to Group Chair Fin Robertson having won the King's Award for Voluntary Service for the magnificent work the whole team has done in the transformation of the walled garden.
A site which had lain derelict for some years has been transformed into a safe, welcoming space for local residents of all ages with small football pitches and play equipment for children to immaculately laid out flower beds and an area for reflection and contemplation. HRH was introduced to the Earl of Mar & Kellie whose family had originally owned the site before its sale several decades ago to the local authority, as well as to members of the Wimpy Park Group and members of the users of the site.
Many thanks to Kayleigh Gregory of Iolair Photography for the images of a superb afternoon which are available in our Gallery section.
