Sadly, but perhaps inevitably, Buckingham Palace has announced today that there will be NO Garden Parties in 2021, either at Holyroodhouse or in London.
Given the current travel restrictions (which may or may not still be in place at the times of the proposed Garden Parties) and the uncertainty about the extent of the rollout of the vaccination programme and therefore who could attend, the decision has been taken that these events will not take place this year.
It is hoped that the 2022 season will be able to go ahead and arrangements for that, including the incorporation of invitees not able to attend the cancelled events, will be announced in due course.
While acknowledging that this further cancellation will be a huge disappointment, the health and welfare of all concerned must take priority and we are sure that everyone will accept that this has been a necessary, if unwelcome, development.
