The Lord-Lieutenant, Johnny Stewart, had the pleasure to attend the annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony tonight in the Cochrane Hall, Alva where he presented the award to the winner of the Clackmannanshire Community Champion, Andy Roxburgh of the Wee County Veterans.
The citation was fulsome. Andy has made the charity's premises a safe and inviting venue for Veterans and, through his own initiative, has provided a taxi service for medical appointment and weekly shopping trips. He has made himself available 24/7 to deal with any Veteran should they have any issue of any kind. He has also arranged short stay group holidays for needy Veterans.
Johnny Stewart, himself a Veteran, but who was not part of the judging panel, was delighted to hand over the Glencairn crystal award to a very humble recipient.
Twenty seven individuals were nominated for the award and the standard of the nominations was as high as it has ever been,. leaving the Judges with a very difficult task indeed. Those nominees who attended are shown along with the Lord-Lieutenant and the Community Champion. The other images are in the Gallery section of this website.
